“Foodie” Fun for Kids: Hot Cocoa (Old School)
Encouraging Speech & Creating Yum! Hot Cocoa
When I was little, I would get so excited for Saturday and Sunday morning because that meant my dad was going to make me Hot Cocoa. It seemed like the hardest thing to make when I was little, but, as I got older, I realized how easy it actually was to make. I still ask my Dad to make me hot cocoa when I go back home to visit, it is our little bonding time and I don’t know why, but, it is always better when he makes it for me.
- 1 teaspoon Cocoa Powder
- 1.5 -2 teaspoon sugar
- (depending how sweet you want it)
- 1 cup of warmed milk
Parent: Heat the milk in a pot over the stove on medium high, stirring while warming up (about 2 minutes). You never want the milk to come to a boil. You could also place the milk in the microwave for about 2 minutes to get the same result.
Kiddo: Scoop 1.5 teaspoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cocoa powder into your cup and add 1 teaspoon of the hot milk. Stir until it becomes a chocolate syrup texture.
