Drew Ann Long is a Mom on a Mission for Special Needs Kids
Meet Drew Ann Long:
Drew Ann Long (Inventor and creator of Caroline’s Cart) is a stay-at-home wife and mother of three children (ages 15,12,9) from Alabaster, Alabama
When her daughter, Caroline, was about 7, Drew could no longer fit her into the shopping carts that stores provided (like the fun carts). This is how her story began. Drew thought, “Certainly there must be a shopping cart for the special needs community”? But, there wasn’t. That’s when Drew got the idea to create a larger seat inside an average cart; big enough to hold her daughter, yet proportional enough to still maintain a cart filled with groceries.
Drew’s mission is for Caroline’s Cart is to be in every retailer in the US and beyond! “Special needs children, and adults, are in every community and deserve the same equal opportunity”, she adds.
Advice to someone with an Idea:
Drew also shares with us some advice she would give to someone who is still in the ”thinking about it” stage of an idea. Drew said “Know your industry”!!! Bringing a product or an idea to market is not easy…do your homework. Tap into any resource possible. You must know all the “ins and outs” of your industry.
Caroline’s Cart gets ready to roll
Caroline’s Cart has already been honored, most notably with the prestigious 2013 Da Vinci Award for Transportation and Mobility. Easter Seals is so enthusiastic about the cart that it will be the first product emblazoned with the organization’s iconic “lily logo”. Technibilt (member of the Wanzl Group), the world’s largest producer of grocery carts, will start production on a line of Caroline’s Carts on August 1, 2013. Caroline’s Cart is a state-of-the-art product that will provide families of special-needs children new freedom of mobility nationwide.
We hope, every store will offer at least one. Visit www.carolinescart.com
