Below are just a few of the apps we pulled from the list [1] to share videos.

Dr. Panda Airport is an entertaining app that allows a child to pretend that he is helping at an airport. With 10 different activities, the child will have many experiences and opportunities to learn new things. It also gives the child the chance to become familiar with the different places in the airport and what they may have to do while they are there. The app begins with checking in and takes them through many of the aspects of taking a trip on a plane.

The app was reviewed with elementary children with developmental delays and autism. The children were engaged with the app and requested it at the next therapy session. The app was used with both verbal and nonverbal children.

The app can be used to teach following directions, spatial concepts, vocabulary, conversational skills, social skills and reasoning skills.

This app is highly recommended for reinforcement of concepts taught in therapy or as use for carryover skills learned.

If you’re planning on a taking a Family Road trip, don’t forget to bring the audiobooks along with some snacks. Did you know you could borrow audiobooks and ebooks using the app Hoopla Digital?

Hoopla Digital [5]Hoopla Digital is a free app that allows you to sign in using your local library card and then you can instantly borrow music, movies, audiobooks, and more. It is awesome! When you create an account by signing in with your library card, you are then eligible to borrow up to 5 items per month. When your time is up with the item, it automatically returns to the library, no more forgetting to return something and building up pesky late fees.

The Hoopla app could be very beneficial for those who are blind or visually impaired but still want to enjoy a great book (read by narrators who use inflection and emotions), or for children and adults with dyslexia who want to be able to experience an adventure without the stress and fatigue that often comes with reading.

Find the best places to stay to fit your family’s needs, like Airbnb, book tables at restaurants, find out where you are going to park- no long waits at restaurants if you book with OpenTable, etc.

Airbnb [7]Airbnb is a travel app that allows users to find rental and vacation homes from more than 4 million homes in 191 plus countries around the world. Airbnb also allows users to search for restaurants and experiences. The app also allows users to rent out their home or space to others. Airbnb has made some changes to its platform in order to make it easier for people with disabilities to find accommodations that suit their needs. The 21 new accessibility filters Airbnb has added enable people to find homes and apartments that have step-free entry to rooms, entryways wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair, elevators, roll-in showers with a chair and more.

Our BridgingApps reviewer used Airbnb for the first time while booking a recent vacation and was very pleased with the app and its features as well as the ease of contacting Airbnb and the host.

Airbnb is an excellent app for anyone who is looking to book a trip and wants an alternative to staying in a hotel. This could be beneficial for anyone traveling with young kids, families, or anyone in their party that requires a little more space. We were able to book a house large enough for our entire family to stay in and it included a pool, hot tub, and game room!
