Meet The Foster Family

I’m a cooped-up mom of four: Three with special needs. Surviving?… no. Dare I say it, we are “thriving” in the trenches of Corona virus. We started a family 27 years ago with our first son, Ryan. Over a decade later, we decided to double this trio by adding three more children: Blake and Vanessa (twins) and, Summer, our adopted daughter from China. They are all 17 now. We are not a traditional family (whatever that means), which has provided us with both glorious highs and tremendous lows throughout these years. With all of our differences, people can spot us coming from a mile away. But, everyone who knows us comments on the “energy” we bring to a room. We came to Florida with stops in Washington D.C., Connecticut, and Tennessee along the way, leaving our mark on those states as only my family can. I have coached and my kids have been both athletes and “buddies” in Special Olympics. We are also about to surpass 100 kitten “fosters” (yes, that’s our last name, too). And we host the best parties in Vero Beach, Fl., as Chantai (Founder of PSN) can attest.

During this shutdown we have taken-in four additional “foster” cats. We came across a video that showed how to teach a cat how to do a “hi-five.” As you can see (after much practice), we were able to teach ‘Olivia” how to do a high-five. It is our hope that she will now be more adoptable as people read about this new skill of hers!
