Even if you have not read her other 6 books, this alone is a treasure trove of games that give you endless ideas and activities to involve children by peaking their interest and increasing their attention in meaningful play. As a pediatric occupational therapist, mother, grandmother and workshop leader, Barbara bears the nickname of

“Gameslady,” and this book will again reveal why that is so apropos. She begins her book with an introduction of “The Power of Play and the Synergy of Games” which adds to the reader’s understanding of the true importance of these games. They are not just for fun, but, have a real purpose in the child’s development and how the brain processes and benefits from the activity. The book is chock- full of games and each provides the goals, materials, setup, directions, variations and modifications when needed. From infancy to teens, the reader as well as the child will be inspired by Barbara’s wisdom and playfulness.
