The Arc of Illinois 67th Annual Convention “Living with Purpose, Passion and Possibilities”, will be taking place April 26-27, 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Lisle, IL. This two day conference features three keynote presentations, 2 luncheon presentations and 24 different breakout presentations, all covering topics important to parents and professionals working with individuals with intellectual and or developmental disabilities.
Our first keynote presentation on Wednesday is Jeff Hobbs, a self-advocate from Morris, IL, who brings a message of inclusion and fighting for the right to follow your dreams. Following this keynote is our Luncheon Guest Speaker, Director Greg Fenton. Greg’s presentation will give you an update on what’s going on in the Division of Developmental Disabilities in Illinois.
Also on Wednesday, our second Keynote, Patti Vasquez. Patti hosts the popular WGN radio show, “Pretty Late with Patti”, and she is a parent of a child with special needs. She combines humor and personal experiences to help the audience recognize how they can incorporate compassionate communication and inspire them to do it well.
On Thursday the keynote presentation will be presented by Meg Cooch and Kimberly Mercer-Schleider. Meg Cooch is the new Arc of Illinois Executive Director and Kimberly Mercer-Schleider is the new Director of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. They will highlight key federal and state public policy priorities and share easy to use advocacy strategies.
