The Holidays are Upon Us

Here I am, once again, finishing up another wonderful issue of Parenting Special Needs Magazine and I can’t help but think of the approaching Holidays. In November, we have Thanksgiving and in December, we have Christmas, Chanukah, and a host of other winter celebrations. As I sit here, I find myself asking the questions “for what is it that I am most thankful, and who is it that truly receives the gifts when we exchange them?” The answers for all are as varied as the people answering them, but, for me, the true “Thanks” comes from having the ability to see why my family has our “gift from Heaven”. We are fortunate to be able to see now what was not able to be seen earlier on. To see that our child has no enemies and sees no color, race, creed, or stereotype. She only sees friends and only has love for all. I am very quickly reminded that we are the ones who receive a gift daily. We are the ones who are most thankful when we count our blessings daily.
In this Holiday issue we find just such reminders. We have stories of Joy, Hope, and Giving. We have helpful hints to survive the Holidays as they can be taxing and difficult.  We have great ideas for those who might need some help in trying to determine an appropriate gift for that truly “Special” someone.  We have information that might just help someone in need. We have stories that will bring a much needed smile to your face. Most of all, we have a community to be a part of so that we all know we are not alone in this. We are all uniquely connected to one another and the Holidays are the perfect time to be reminded of that.

Happy Holidays,
